Cybersecurity managers run simulated phishing attacks using fake emails, texts, or calls to train employees to recognize and respond to threats.

Problem: Complex upfront configurations

The phishing campaign builder was too complex and time consuming, requiring many upfront configurations. This created high cognitive load and friction for 80% of cybersecurity managers, slowing campaign creation workflow.

Action: Create pre-configure settings into preset

I led the design initiative to repackage complex configurations into preset-based attack selections and simplified the attack preview experience. Partnered closely with Product and Engineering to validate usability, align with business goals, and ensure compatibility with the existing back-end architecture.

Result: Reduced setup time and back-end load

Reduced managers’ campaign setup time by 60% through preset-based workflows, while the redesigned preview experience decreased unnecessary back-end load and improved system efficiency.

Discovery

Managers struggle the most when creating phishing attacks in the campaign builder.

Original Design

High friction and low efficiency in campaign creation.
Legacy design optimized for demonstration, not usability.

Approach

Introduce performance metrics

Metrics help cyber security managers identify weaknesses and tailor targeted training campaigns to improve employee awareness.
